This quality coffee is grown and harvested by farmers in Brazil on our privately-owned Santa Izabel farm, for which the coffee is named. From soil to sip, Nobletree’s Santa Izabel Reserve is the product of a vertically integrated supply chain where our farmers grow, harvest, and process their coffee utilizing highly sustainable business practices on their family-run farms.

What is the Cup of Excellence, and how a coffee gets awarded
The Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious international competition for high-quality specialty coffees from around the world. Each year, thousands of coffees from around the world are submitted for consideration into the Cup of Excellence competition, held by the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), in partnership with the Alliance for Coffee Excellence. Winning coffees are generally sold in global online auctions at premium prices, with the majority of auction proceeds going to the coffee farmers.
Each sample entering the competition process is first assigned a number known only to the auditor for each competition, and each jury member cups the coffee blind. In addition, each lot is documented throughout the entire process so that winning coffees are traceable to the farm and exact micro-lot. The competition is rigorous, with cupping evaluations conducted over a three-stage process by national and international industry experts.

Cup of Excellence-awarded coffees go to auction and are extremely rare and even more-so to purchase. With only 500 bags available this year, Nobletree is the only consumer-level company to offer a COE coffee direct to consumers to buy online.

This award-winner is made from Obata cherries (score of 88.15 and have a screen of 18/19 size) are grown on terraced-soil, at 1,050 meters above sea level. The cherries were processed naturally and have been artisan-roasted dark and light-medium to deliver the complex flavor notes of plum, red wine, and honey at our Red Hook, NY roaster.
